10/25/26

Dear Family,

Yay for the rain! Finally, it’s really fall. And our youth have outdone themselves again. Their humor and word play are ever entertaining and always fun.

At middle school a young woman was playing with her elbow and loudly said, “Why is my weenus red? This delightful word means the skin on your outside elbow. It’s just fun to get a reaction and she did.

During song time Bobby had to stop after a song to ask another student. “What were you doing, during the song, behind the chairs?” The student said, “I noticed my shoes were untied and didn’t want to bang my head on the seat in front of me, so I went behind the chairs.” Bobby heard, “I was tying my shoes and got dyslexia?” These entire interactions take seconds, but Bobby had to mention that maybe doing distracting things should wait till later because although he is playing the guitar and singing . . . what he is thinking – all at the same time – is, “What is that person doing?” It’s hard on Bobby. Oh, the woes of being a Youth pastor.

Wednesday night we had a continuance of one of the lovely recurring themes of our times. Someone asked Bobby if he was 6 7 and he said, “Always.” A youth piped up with, “No Bobby’s not sixty-seven. Rich is – sixty-seven hundred.” It’s funny to hear their take. People are a delight.

Sunday morning Sunday school was very fun. We played, “The Bible is fun” and my favorite was, “What would a teacher say?” Hebrews 5:11, “We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand.” We started the book of James and it’s nice to read God’s word together. Also, I must give a shout out to, “The Bible project” for their introductory videos that are free on YouTube and in the Bible app. They have amazing summaries of each book.

May you enjoy reading God’s words. May you find strength in knowing His will. May you feel His love flowing in you and through to those you encounter.

Hugs, Cristy
