Dear family,
Ah, the beginning
of school, new starts are always fraught with the unknown. I remember dreaming of going to the wrong
class or forgetting to wear pants. I am
so glad I don’t have to go to school anymore.
Yet I am glad our children persist even in their college years. Paying to learn is terrible but it’s
tradition in our family so I am glad Seth and Adriel continue to strive towards
a degree.
Middle school
youth are so fun. During the message
Bobby mentioned that a bad combination would be ice cream and ketchup. One student became very excited, “I would eat
that!” Oh dear. Another student laughed so hard soda came out
of his nose. Poor guy, his quote of the
night was, “It burns!”
The High
schoolers also focused a bit on the soda.
On the way down to the youth room a student was saying how soda machines
at school are over $2. The machine in the youth room is stuck at
$.50. She said, I think of that price and
then say, “I’ll wait.” One young man has
a habit of spilling soda so he put the can far from his chair – between where
Bobby sits and we do. Another student
followed in suit and this resulted in many people pretending they would kick
the full can or tip it over in some way.
Bobby was chagrined. “Why would
you put it that far out?” And the
answer, “Because it will spill when I put it under my chair.” Well, the inevitable happened, one did spill
anyway. Such is life. Later . . . during the lesson . . . Bobby had
to mention that, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God like
people who spill drinks on our carpet.“ The young man piped up, “Bobby I’ve
been clean for a while!”
I delight in the
antics of those I have the honor to spend time with. Our youth are so fun. May you also find joy in the people around
you. Love and hugs,
Cristy
PS I am working on a new book. This time with some of Adriel's drawings and some AI. How fun.
