Dear Family,

Spending hours with Adriel means I had a good day on Monday.  I enjoy her driving.  She’s a great driver and I feel safe when she is at the wheel.  I enjoy taking her out to eat.  This time someone said to her at the restaurant, “You are cute . . I am single.”  That was kind of funny.  She has never been that blatantly flirted with.  We enjoyed chatting, catching up and thrift store shopping.  I am glad she is so sweet and fun to be with.

Bobby cooked Birria on Monday.  He is funny.  He is so glad when we enjoy the food . . . to an extent.  If he sees it is half gone within a day he then feels sad (because he makes a lot and wants it to last a couple of days).  Oh the trials of being an excellent cook.

Bobby made salmon patties on Friday.  We enjoyed them very much!  Saturday, he spent all day cooking for the Sunday potluck.  Seth and I enjoyed some of that.  Mmm mm mm! Sooooo good!

Bobby and I enjoyed a Birthday party with sling shot use, family fright and joy – immense joy.  I am glad to be part of our church and their celebrations.

As I approach my new job please pray with me for wisdom, knowledge and guidance while I learn how to do the tasks required of me.

Thank you so much for your love, great chats and listening ear my friends and family.  May you enjoy the beginning of the school year.  Here we goooooo!

Much Love,

Cristy

Dear Family,

I am excited to start a new job on the 27th.  Permanent, full time with the Oregon Department of Employment.  That is very exciting to me because I believe wholeheartedly in helping people be employed.  I love working!

Wednesday night at Youth Group we had color wars.  This was very fun.  One person came and didn’t expect to get wet or dirty.  This is fine.  Several people did not get dirty at all (myself included).  Taking pictures is a lovely occupation and I enjoy participating in that way.  The youth have been respectful about not getting me year after year.

This one student decided to douse a teen with water from a bucket.  This was thrilling for all involved but also meant that Bobby then doused him.  He was so surprised!  Then he became fully involved and colorful like the rest of them.  So many smiles.  At the end he borrowed a towel.  “Well”, I said about his decision to get someone else wet, “Revenge is mine says the Lord, . . .  and Bobby loves to do the Lord’s work.”

Having Bobby home is so nice.  He cooked chicken on Thursday and I am glad he enjoys doing that.

Adriel has been chatting with me often enough and I am glad she lives.  She is such a bright light and was excited to get a scholarship for skateboarding.  How fun to be mentioned in Thrasher magazine.  She also has another job tutoring children in skateboarding.  She really enjoys that sport.  She has also always been good with young people.  I wonder where she gets that from?

Because someone funny was in “The Golden Child” I wanted to watch the movie even though Bobby said it was a bad movie.  Seth saw it on and asked what it was.  He looked it up online and said, “1986, this movie was made in 1986?  Was it colorized?”  We both insisted that movies made in 1986 didn’t come in black and white.  Bobby’s comment, “Nothing says you are old unless your child asks if they had color TV back then.”  (I looked it up, 1939 The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind showcased the potential of color films and helped usher in a new era of visual storytelling.)

The Golden Child is so bad it’s funny.  The graphics – oh my – I was not scared at the monster – I was laughing at how poorly it was done.  But I do like that the main characters wanted to get married.  That is very wholesome.  Not worth the watch, but definitely worth Seth’s comment.

I heard that transferring from a community college might be a very hard undertaking.  Please pray with us for Seth’s success in this endeavor.  He still has a month and a half so that is good.  I am sure administrators will get Seth where he needs to be when and I know God is in control, but Seth is feeling a little stress about it.  He does want to move out.

May you find joy in doing God’s will.  May you embrace His guidance, justice and grace.  Much love,

Cristy

Dear Family,

Having Bobby at home is so nice.  I missed him and am glad to have him back long-term.  I was starting to bug Seth a bit too much.  We had a good talk though and I am glad Seth was kind with some long hugs.

Adriel also talked with me for a while and I am so glad she stays alive.  The big city still scares me but she is glad to be working two jobs now and going back into college soon.  Please pray with me for her strength and gumption.

I am thankful for good references and being able to pass a criminal background check.  The next thing is to call the hiring manager back on Monday.  Please pray for that conversation.  I think I know what will be said, but don’t know for sure.

Thank you for your love, prayers, and hugs when I see you.  Summers can be rough for me with Bobby gone so much but I am excited for our upcoming youth group activities, the future in general, and God’s ever-present love.

May you also be glad for God’s plans for your future.  May you find joy in knowing Him, his will, and in doing it.  Much love,

Dear Family,

I am glad for the times I do have with Bobby.  We spent a lovely week together before he went hiking with a friend.  Last Sunday evening we went to see a comedy show organized by a former Gold Beach youth.  It is fun to see Ty Boice especially since he lives in the area.

While Bobby was hiking he had some bandwidth to let me know the spots he was stopping at.  One time he said he would have to brave the mosquitoes.  I mentioned that Misquotes are the worst.  Then said, “Yes, that is a pun even though it was created by autocorrect.”  Good one eh?

I am so glad that I was called to get in early (two weeks) to my first physical therapy appointment for my feet.  Things like toe yoga are hugely important for my healing!  And I feel so much better already.  Yay!!  Please pray with me as I consider a desk job to avoid being on my feet.  Please pray for God’s will in my health and job opportunities.

Bobby was home a couple of days this week and I enjoyed the time we had together.  He is very excited about his next trip this coming week.  It was fun to see him pack and delight in the joy to come.

Seth continues to ponder living in a school situation or doing online college.  Please pray for wisdom on his part.

Adriel healed up well.  I am glad she keeps in contact.

I am thankful for Skyra our cat.  She gives me the time of day while Bobby is gone and I like that.  Her purr is the epitome of contentment.  All is well when a cat sits on my lap and purrs.

Thank you friends and family for being with me on this journey.  I find meaning in writing letters to people seeking to know God more.  Global Media Outreach is a seed-planting ministry.  Sometimes we have the opportunity to mentor people.  What a blessing!  I enjoy watching God work in that way.

May you see how God is working around you!  May you find joy in the beauty of nature, the frolic of a small child or animal.  May our Lord grant you peace in times of trouble.  Much love,
